The Northeast Passion
The Northeastern Passion is a scenic play with science, politics and the myths of the Arctic .
As the ice in the north melts and the world turns its gaze towards "the new land", the performance asks the question of which narrative about the Arctic is gaining public focus.
The performance mixes research communication, humor, music, and acting, and uses a format inspired by TV news entertainment.
With Peer Gynt as a recurring figure, the door is opened to both fact, fiction and the many layers of interests that influence our understanding of the highlands. The performance shows how more information does not necessarily bring greater clarity. The battle for the Arctic is largely a battle over narratives and the power to convey them.
