about us
Ferske Scener is a Tromsø-based performing arts company led by Kristina Junttila, Kristin Bjørn and Bernt Bjørn.
We create performances with the audience's experience in the center, often through active participation, often in spaces where performing arts are not otherwise shown. The themes are northern and based on the meeting between Norwegian, Sami, Kven and Finnish culture. We try to surprise both the audience and ourselves; sideways glances and spoon kicks, sudden songs and laughter are part of the expression. The performances are multilingual and composed of different performing arts genres.
We like to play with quality concepts and dramaturgy. At the heart of it lies a serious ambition to influence both our personal history and contribute to social change through art. To achieve this, we constantly collaborate with others in and outside the performing arts community, within and outside Sápmi.
“ The company Ferske Scener has its own signature (...). They are able to create a contact between stage and audience that is natural and relaxed, but with sudden leaps from humor to implicit social criticism ”

Artistic direction
Kristina Junttila is in artistic management and has been a member of Ferske Scener since 2012. She is an interdisciplinary performance artist and director with a Finnish and Norwegian background. The place, context and audience are often the starting point for Kristina's stage work and she is interested in creating new concepts and expanding the forms a performance can take. Kristina thrives best in chaos and when no one knows how the performance will end just before the premiere. Kristina is a trained stage instructor and performance artist from the Academy of Fine Arts in Turku (BA-2006) and the Theatre Academy in Helsinki, Finland (MA - 2010). She has a PhD in artistic research and art pedagogy from the Academy of Fine Arts in Tromsø, UiT The Arctic University of Norway (2023).

Bernt has extensive experience from stage, film and TV, and has had roles at Hålogaland Teater, Nordland Teater, Riksteatret, Åarjelhsaemien Teatere/Sydsamisk Teater, among others. He was previously a member of Totalteatret (1983 – 200 1). Bernt often works with new stage texts, and together with Kristin Bjørn he led the Stage Text Competition 2013 - 2025.

In Ferske Scener she works with all aspects of script development, and occasionally directing. In Blodklubb she is also a performer. Kristin Bjørn was previously part of Totalteatret (1983 – 1999).
