Stilla - a performance

"Stilla-en predstavining" is produced by Noor Produksjoner in collaboration with Ferske Scener, with Trond Peter Stamsø Munch, Bernt Bjørn, Ivar Beddari and guests. The script is led by Tale Næss, with Kristin Bjørn and Kristina Junttila as external eyes.

Stilla has a planned premiere in the summer of 2025, but we will invite the audience into the process on certain occasions before the premiere, first during the NORDAFØRR program at the Northern Norway Festival on Monday, June 24. Read more about the entire NORDAFØRR program here

In October 2023, the project had a process demonstration during a professional day organized by Propellen Teater at Rosendal Teater in Trondheim. Ivar Derås and Frode Fjellheim were guests at the demonstration.

"All the place names in Sápmi that were read out were places threatened by farming, mining, the wind industry, cabin fields, etc. The long list of place names made an impression and fueled efforts."

The performance served to give people energy and desire to stand up for places in their hearts. It could have been a depressive performance, but it turned out to be the exact opposite. What are we going to do together to save my natural paradise? Motivating 30% of the membership of the Norwegian Nature Conservation Association – those who say they want to do something active to save both nature and climate, could be a side effect of having seen/participated in this performance. The toolbox is large – everything from joining an organization to running a cultural camp a la Reppar-fjord camp to civil disobedience outside ministries in Oslo. The performance awakened a mysterious force – some kind of primal force… and strengthened my view that when you manage to create an alliance of artists and cultural figures with conservationists – then there will be a synergy that gives hope to Let the river live and BAAJH VAERIDE ÅRRODH!

What landscape is inalienable to you? Would you break the law to defend it?

The performance

"Stilla – a performance" is a music and conversation performance about eco-care, anger and loss of place, about civil disobedience and eco-terrorism. About standing and listening while the ice settles on the river, about naivety and about cycling to Storfjorden to get a wife. About human rights, monster masts and pike cakes, and with invited guests from time to time.

In the project “Stilla – a performance” we ask: Where do the struggles in our own region stand today? What would be inalienable for us? What could even you chain yourself to protest against? We will consider concepts such as eco-care, loss of place and eco-terrorism. We will try to go deeper into these concepts and to consider both the human and political realities that lie behind them. What is it like to live with – and continuously protest against – the possibility of a wind farm right behind your house, when it has been going on for twelve years?

We ask ourselves – are there limits to what can be achieved with civil disobedience? Are the methods used by peaceful activists a danger to our democracy? Could the hard line of authorities and authorities lead to other – and more dangerous – forms of action? Could it lead to someone – in grief, despair and anger – crossing the line of civil disobedience and ending up in what is defined as ecoterrorism?
