BLOOD CLUB: CULTURE AND GENETICS

about performance

Blodklubb is the club for everyone who has blood! It is a series of performances where each performance has its own dramaturgy and agenda. The founders basically represent four archetypes, or stereotypes, in the northern public. They are "The Sami activist", "the objective researcher", "the victim of Norwegianization" and "the bearer of Norwegian guilt".

In this version of Blodklubb, we are trying to change the four archetypes and test out new roles to replace them. The new positions are by no means easier than the old ones.

The audience is served Gumba (blood club) and is divided into four groups according to height and hair color. Each of the groups belongs to one of the archetypes. The goal of the meeting is to create a big "WE" among all the club members, despite the fact that the only thing they have in common is that they have blood. We resent and play with different constructions of belonging and community with costumes, language and symbols. We tell our own family stories and draw the impossible consequences from them.
